CVMR's video: Pettro - Entities

@Pettro - Entities
Release: 27th January 2014 Cat No: CVMR002 Format: Digital Mexican imprint CVMR kicks off 2014 with a four track various artist EP this January, entitled 'Mex Revolt' which features material from Los Rombos, Pettro, Reptare and The.Ram. The Mexico City based CVMR imprint was launched in 2013 following the Cobra Voyage company's early days as an agency, radio show and event's company, driving the underground electronic music scene in its homeland. The record label kicked off with a single from Out In The Sticks mid 2013, which featured Mark E on remix duties, a stunning cosmic disco inflected EP which garnered the label early support from the likes of Chicken Lips, PBR Streetgang, Aeroplane, Huxley and Blond:Ish, showcasing a mark of quality embodied in the imprint from the very beginning. Here it pushes forward with a VA package again bringing to light the intriguing sound of the label and setting the wheels in motion for a great year. Opening the EP we have Los Rombos' 'Gris', a low-slung psychedelic workout built around echoing guitar licks, an elongated bass hook and raw off-kilter rhythms. The record subtly blossoms with intricate understated processing and additional elements creeped into the structure, creating a raw mood-driven cut to open things in style. Following is 'MDO' by The.Ram, which takes on a more direct 4/4 feel with shuffled drums, warm ethereal pads and a stunning bell chime melody, which adds a shimmering beauty to the composition as it slowly unfolds and rounded sub bass tones pair up with murmuring vocal lines to add an underlying, driving energy to the feel of things. On the flip side we have Pettro's 'Entities', which takes on a dark and moody aesthetic with menacing sawwave bass tones, tension building background atmospherics and rumbling subs. Pettro then tweaks the envelopes of the key elements throughout the tracks seven and a half minute duration to generate an ever evolving-dynamic and create a hypnotic dark-room, early-hours number. Finally to close the single Reptare turns in 'Last Snow' which embraces a similar vibe with spooky, evolving piano licks, a bumpy tom-driven bass hook and ghostly resonant pad lines, again creating an intriguing dance-floor focused record and rounding off a killer four tracker brilliantly.
