@Whoop 4.0 Review: A few improvements over the 3.0 fitness tracker, but still not good enough
Whoop is overpriced and inaccurate. You can do better with your $500. Whoop 4.0: https://join.whoop.com/CEFE67 Oura Ring: https://ouraring.com/product/heritage-black Apple Watch SE: https://amzn.to/3lpxwOo Blog post: https://powermoves.blog/reviews/whoop-4/ My Whoop 3.0 vs Oura video: https://youtu.be/ABcHIQAHWDk My Whoop 3.0 vs Apple Watch video: https://youtu.be/MnvCMcjEzMM Summary: I just finished testing the Whoop 4.0 fitness band for two months. But there are a few reasons that I can’t recommend it. Whoop is a fitness device (for the wrist or bicep) that specializes in recovery and sleep tracking. It doesn’t motivate you to exercise like Apple Watch. It assumes you’re active already and helps to optimize your performance. It’s catered to a different person than the typical Apple Watch wearer. The Whoop 4.0 added improved sensors, reduced the size by 30%, and created an easier band switching mechanism compared to the 3.0. None of these features are essential upgrades and the 3.0’s data accuracy issues are still apparent in the 4.0 and hold the device back. Whoop has huge endorsements from professional athletes, like Patrick Mahomes, but I find it hard to believe any athlete would rely on Whoop if they weren’t paid to do so. Aside from the data accuracy issues, Whoop is still missing a screen and GPS, which I think are necessary for a good fitness tracking device. Even if you assume my testing was a fluke and Whoop provides perfect data, it’s not worth it for most people. It’ll cost $480 for two years of ownership, which is twice the price of an Apple Watch. For those who want a device that provides better sleep and heart data than Apple Watch, I recommend Oura Ring at night time for sleep and heart data tracking to pair with your Apple Watch during the day.
