@Apple Watch Series 7 vs. SE: Series 7's Five Features Upgrades to Consider
Series 7 is great, but it’s $120 more to get features you don’t need. SE: https://amzn.to/3lpxwOo Series 7: https://amzn.to/3uqPfMZ Blog Post: https://powermoves.blog/comparisons/apple-watch/ Favorite Apple Watch Features: https://youtu.be/Y2POIHoSvB8 Series 3 vs. SE: https://youtu.be/WBy3lVii8Sw Watch Band Comparison: https://youtu.be/fdRytuO6Qv0 Summary: I’ve been testing out the new Apple Watch Series 7 for two months. The Series 7 is not a huge upgrade from any of the previous models and I don’t recommend it for most people because it’s a $120 price bump from the SE without substantial upgrades. But here are the main five reasons you should consider a Series 7 over the SE: - Always-On Screen The SE display turns black when it’s not in use and can be woken up with a twist of the wrist. The Series 7 display stays on at all times. The market loves this feature, but  I keep this feature disabled. While the technology is cool, you’ll lose about six hours of battery runtime and it makes the watch a distraction. - Larger Screen Size Apple upgraded the screen of the Series 7 from 40mm to 41mm while keeping the outer case the same as the Series 6 and SE. This upgrade is nice to have, but it wasn't noticeable until I switched back to the SE after wearing the Series 7 for a few weeks. The upgrade is not as substantial as the 2018 screen upgrade from 38mm to 40mm. - Better Specs The Series 7 has a faster processor, an extra hour of battery life, the U1 chip, a third-generation heart rate sensor (compared to the SE's second), and 5 GHz WiFi support. These upgrades sound nice on paper, but I’d be stunned if the average user ever noticed even one of these spec increases in real life. - Extra Health Features Series 7 has an ECG and blood oxygen reader. While these features are cool, you probably know if you need them without me telling you. As a healthy young adult with no pre-existing conditions, the only time I use the features is when I’m testing for a review. - Premium Materials The Apple Watch SE only comes in aluminum, while the Series 7 has two premium models in stainless steel and titanium.  The titanium and stainless steel look more premium, plus the glass on these models is made of sapphire, which is a huge improvement over the squishy and hollow Ion-X glass found on the aluminum models. I used an aluminum Apple Watch for years without a problem, but if you can afford it, I highly recommend upgrading to stainless steel or titanium.
