Cam // Power Moves's video: MacBook Pro 14 Camera Quality: Comparing to 2020 M1 Macbook 2018 MacBook Air iPhone 13 Pro

I bought the newest 14” MacBook M1 Pro last month, but I don’t think there’s anything unique that I can bring to a review that hasn’t been said by other reviewers. Instead, I made a quick demo video that shows the improved video quality of the 2021 MacBook Pro camera. While I don’t use the front-facing camera often, I always thought it was embarrassing for Apple that the most premium MacBook, costing thousands of dollars, had a terrible camera (especially in a time where most business is happening over FaceTime, Zoom, and Skype) The MacBook Pro cameras didn’t improve much over the years. The most logical excuse for the bad camera? The screen was too thin to fit in the proper camera components. Well, the new MacBook Pro screen has extra thickness/depth. And the new built-in MacBook camera went from 720p to 1080p, which makes for a solid improvement. But this resolution upgrade alone isn’t enough to reach the level of the newer iPhone and iPad Pro front-facing cameras. I’m glad Apple addressed the issue, but there’s still a ton of room for improvement. My quick review of the 2021 14" MacBook: the new camera alone isn’t enough to warrant an upgrade, but when you add in the crazy battery life from the M1 chips, the improved keyboard, and the amazing speakers, the new 2021 Macs are a huge upgrade from the Intel MacBook Pro models of two years ago.
