My conclusion? Eufy's rechargeable battery is awesome and the fingerprint reader is a smart addition. But I still lean towards one of the five August lock models, specifically the Yale Assure Connected by August because of its more refined phone app and extra features. Five downsides to the Eufy Lock: - It lacks HomeKit support, meaning it won’t work inside the Apple Home app or with Siri. - It doesn’t have Auto-Unlock, but I don’t think this is needed because the fingerprint reader is just as efficient. - There is no mechanism to detect if the door is fully shut. Without this knowledge, your door could potentially be partially opened and unsecured, while the app displays that your door is locked. Door detection is a great added security feature found with August locks. - There are strange error notifications that say "the deadbolt may be stuck" when the deadbolt appears to be in proper position. It seems like a bug, but it may be an issue with the motor not providing enough power when door isn’t in the exactly right position. - I couldn’t always control the lock while away from home. After 15 seconds of app loading, my lock would appear offline. This didn’t happen every time, but it happened enough to be mentioned.
