@Ring 1 vs. Ring 3 vs. Ring 3 Plus vs. Ring Pro: An Exhaustive Look at the 2020 Ring Lineup
Ring Pro is easily the most reliable. But Ring 1 is solid if you don’t have wires. Follow me: https://twitter.com/camsecore Summary: Ring released three video doorbells in 2020. There are four options to choose from: Ring 1, Ring 3, Ring 3 Plus, and Ring Pro. If you have doorbell wires (from a regular doorbell), Ring Pro is still the clear choice, but it’ll set you back $250.Ring 1, Ring 3, and Ring 3 Plus operate with rechargeable batteries, but the motion recording isn’t always reliable. RING PRO Ring Pro accurately records anybody who comes to your door (five seconds before arriving at the door). It’s the most reliable video doorbell because it always records when it should. Unfortunately, Ring Pro requires constant power by using your previous doorbell’s wires. It has the slimmest design. RING 3 Ring 3 has a removable battery. It’s compatible with any type of house. Ring 3 occasionally forgets to record motion (with the default settings). To improve the motion recording reliability, crank the “Motion Sensitivity” and “Frequency” settings to high. Unfortunately, the battery needs a charge every two weeks with these settings. RING 3 PLUS Ring 3 Plus is the same device as Ring 3 with one expectation: Pre-Roll. Pre-Roll is a four-second black and white clip taken before the real motion clip starts. Having these extra seconds make Ring 3 Plus a no-brainer over Ring 3. RING 1 Ring 1 has about the same motion reliability and video quality as Ring 3. Surprisingly, it has a better build-quality because the cover is made with aluminum rather than plastic. Only downside: it’s battery operated, but the battery isn’t removable. The entire doorbell has to come off the door to recharge it. Ring 1 is a great value play if you can deal with the inconvenient recharging and the so-so reliability (same as Ring 3).
