Like its predecessors, an exceptionally tight NDA had to be signed for this wine, so what I can reveal here is limited: it’s sourced from the same legendary Oakville, Rutherford, and St Helena vineyards, made tip to tail with no expense spared by world class winemaking talent, and is an epic Cabernet from an iconic blue chip estate that has few peers. Compare at $175+/bottle. I absolutely love the extraction from these guys. Pours a dark, dense core, greeting you with an initial aromatic wall of cassis, plum, blackberries, and crushed florals unfolding into red fruits, blueberries, and dark chocolate. This is a big boy on entry, with dark fruits and grippy tannins rounded out by soft leather and earth, wrapped in deftly balanced acidity. The long, dry finish is defined largely by terroir, with powerful oak and a kiss of toasted marshmallow upon exit. You definitely want a lot of these in your cellar to savor over the next decade.
