Saudade was once described as "the love that remains" after someone is gone. It is the recollection of feelings, experiences, places, or events that once brought excitement, pleasure, well-being, which now triggers the senses and makes one live again. It can be described as an emptiness, like someone or something that should be there in a particular moment is missing, and the individual feels this absence. It brings sad and happy feelings together: sadness for missing and happiness for experiencing the past. I stumbled upon the Portuguese word “saudade” a few days after I first saw the art, and it immediately struck me as a feeling that could be a regular occurrence for Chloe. So that made me want to write a song which seems happy on the surface but has something more buried under all the cheerful major chords; like a nostalgic dream where everything seems perfect and not broken, but you can’t shake the feeling that something’s off… This one's dedicated to Chloe and Rachel.
