The Applicants applied for Special Leave to commence proceedings against the Respondents for judicial review of the decision of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) to grant the request of Trinidad & Tobago to suspend the Common External Tariff (CET) of 5% on imports of other hydraulic cement and impose a rate of 50% from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021. The Applicants also applied for the hearing of the Originating Application to be expedited and, as an Interim Measure, that Trinidad & Tobago be restrained from imposing the new rate of 50% or any rate other than the CET.
