To do our part to reduce waste going to our landfills by composting 100% of our yard waste and vegetable-based household waste. 2. To reduce chemical pollution of our groundwater and river water by using compost to replace soil nutrients in our lawns and flower beds so we don't have to use chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. We believe that overfertilizing and overuse of herbicides on urban lawns is a major source of ground water and river water pollution. For decades we've had acceptable looking lawns and flower beds without using chemical fertilizers or herbicides.
