Ced Northman's video: Gunung Merapi - The awakening

From the 25th of october untill middle of November 2010 the Merapi alias the mountain of fire has known its most powerful eruption ever recorded. A plinian eruption spreading 140millions m3 of ashes, hundreds of pyroclastic flows 15kms long, evacuating 390000 persons, disturbing the whole asian fly zone, but killing "only" 350 persons. On a backpacker amateur volcano trip in Java, we climbed it to the top one day before, and spent 5 days flirting with its angry flanks... Only the strong south east wind on this morning allowed us to reach the top without suffocating. See how pressurized is the lava dome. A frightening experience!
