In my opinion keeping the body hydrated is the number one priority in warm climates. I can go days on little food but dehydration quickly leaves me weak and lethargic. However, it is critically important that the water be safe to drink or else you could suffer dehydration and physical weakness due to the effects of dysentery or other water-borne illness. Wild water is just that - water found in nature. Springs, rain and coconuts are my favorite sources. When drinking from springs I look for springs where I believe the water has filtered through the earth. The longer the water has travelled through the earth the better. Rain water can be collected in leaves, coconut shells, depressions in rocks or other places that are clean. Stream and river water can be risky unless you know the source and are confident that there is no source of contamination along its course. To be sure it is best to boil stream and river water. A container is needed to hold the water and then the container can be placed on a fire or hot rocks placed in the water to cook it. In this video I explore some techniques to acquire safe drinking water in a tropical forest. Please subscribe and leave a comment.
