Chad Zuber's video: 15-Minute Pottery Burn

@15-Minute Pottery Burn
I’ve wondered how long must I keep the flames going for a clay pot to sufficiently harden. In this test I lit a fire and allowed the branches to burn down to hot coals. Then I placed two small bowls on rocks in the center of the coals. Next I stacked dead branches of ocotillo cactus around the bowls in the form of a teepee. Ocotillo branches burn very fast. The fire quickly ignited and actually burned out in about 13 minutes. I removed the pottery and allowed it to cool. The bowls turned out mostly black from carbon clouds but they are fully functional.
