"Mank" Directed by David Fincher follows the screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz and the making of "Citizen Kane" in 1930s/40s Hollywood. This movie was literally made for people like me. Film historian buffs obsessed with old Hollywood. However, I'm not sure who else the audience would be. I'll make this quick, the Cinematography is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Amanda Seyfried and Lily Collins are my personal standouts. Other than that.... I hated the film. Yes, I'm being particularly critical because this was, in my mind, going to win best picture of the year, but it falls soundlessly flat. The narrative goes nowhere and the stakes are non existent. I was incredibly disappointed and Fincher has a flop. I don't think the average movie watcher is going to enjoy sitting through this one.
