"Stillwater" directed by Tom McCarthy starring Matt Damon, Abigail Breslin and Camille Cottin tells the story of a father traveling to France to visit his daughter who is in prison. The film is obviously based on the Amanda Knox case and dives into a fathers search for his daughters innocence while finding love along the way. It's a slow burn while we follow Damon's character collect the clues and meet a French woman and her daughter along the way. Overall, this feels like two movies in one and I'm not sure the filmmakers knew what they wanted to be. I enjoyed the film for the most part, I would have enjoyed it more if they'd have trimmed 30minutes.
