Heroes of Sport are interviews with Bob Babbitt, one of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) co-founders, that goes live monthly. These interviews provide challenged athletes a platform to share how they've utilized sport to empower their lives. Stories include resilience and how athletes stay positive and motivated through life's challenges and setbacks. Also featured, are CAF grant gives. This episode showcases Craig Black and one of CAF's athletes Dominic Ozeta where Craig presents Dominic with a surprise grant for travel and expenses. Craig went into professional football at the age of 15 years old whilst attending high school at Greenock Morton Football Club based in Scotland. As part of his studies, he pursued Art & Design as he always had a passion for this field whilst training in a professional football capacity. After leaving high school at the age of 16 years old, Craig was a professional football player at Greenock Morton FC for five more years. During this time, Craig played several first-team games and cup appearances however at the end of his contract at the age of 21 years old, he decided to pursue a different career in the form of the creative industry. Now as an internationally recognized artist, Black credits his dedication and tenacity to his unique sports background. Craig was commissioned by Wisdom Audio to paint a pair of very special speakers. These beautiful speakers are being auctioned off and all proceeds will go to The Challenged Athletes Foundation. CAF is so appreciative and grateful to Wisdom Audio and Craig for their generosity. CAF's athlete Dominic was born with a congenital birth defect upper limb difference impacting his left arm. He showed interest in soccer and started practicing at the age of 4 years old. At 6 years old he began playing on the AYSO soccer league. After two seasons, his coach recommended that he try out for club soccer. Dominic started playing some club soccer and has done so for the past 9 years. He is currently playing left back and center back for Albion Elite Academy Soccer Club. Dominic has also been playing soccer for his high school soccer team for the past two years and was selected as team captain in his sophomore year. He led his team in scoring and was selected to1st Team All League in the Inland Valley League. Most recently Dominic was nominated by his Academy soccer coach to be a member of the ALBION National Elite Team in Spain this spring, for an international showcase. The team will be comprised of top players in the US.This past summer Dominic attended the Exact Sports soccer camp sponsored by Nike, which is the top rated soccer ID camp in the country. Dominic was selected and played in the All-Star game at the completion of the camp.
