Heroes of Sport are interviews with Bob Babbitt, one of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) co-founders, that goes live monthly. These interviews provide challenged athletes a platform to share how they've utilized sport to empower their lives. Stories include resilience and how athletes stay positive and motivated through life's challenges and setbacks. Also featured, are CAF grant gives. This episode showcases Kevin Frost: DEAF BLIND CHAMPION, PHILANTHROPIST, TEDX SPEAKER AND MULTI SPORTS ATHLETE. Kevin Frost is a Deaf/Blind 3 time World Champion Canadian speed skater who resides in Ottawa. He has Usher’s Syndrome, leaving him with a 10% hearing capacity and has 4% vision remaining. During the last 25 years, he has won 16 gold medals and set 9 World records in Blind speed skating. He has also ranked 8th in the World, against able-bodied Master speed skaters. So far, winning 80 medals competing against able-bodied skaters. In addition to speed skating, he trained with Development Canada in blind rowing, blind track running, tandem cycling and in 2016 he started blind golfing. He has made the Canadian Standards in all sports venues. He was selected to represent Canada in blind golfing World Championships in South Africa 2023. In 2010, Kevin won the Community Builder Award for United Way, in Ottawa and in 2015, he was honored in the House of Commons for being a role model for the deaf-blind Canadians. He has done over 350 motivational presentations around the world and has also volunteered for missions in 3rd World countries which has helped 29 deaf children hear again, as well as provide visual aids for many children during the last 20 years. While playing sports and participating in charity work, Kevin wrote a book, “Deaf Blind Champion." It is a true story of hope, inspiration, and excellence in sport and life. This story shows why CAF is so important on Kevin's blind sporting journey. "CAF is why I am able to succeed in my all my blind sports ventures," says Kevin.
