ChaosAngel's video: Touhou Metal Rock

@東方 Touhou Metal/Rock η
Title: エクステンドアッシュ-蓬莱人 Artist: 平松俊紀 (Toshinori Hiramatsu) Circle: Knights of Round Album: Knights of Round 2 Original: エクステンドアッシュ ~ 蓬莱人 (Extend Ash ~ Person of Hourai) Website: http://www.soj.razor.jp Twitter: @hiramatsu_soj VGMdb: http://vgmdb.net/artist/471 So yeah, "that" happened. In case you are wondering what went wrong, I had two Finder windows opened and I pick the wrong song when I rendered the video. After the first few comments, I noticed I made a huge mistake (the latter also helped me to wonder if I have uploaded Ghostly Eyes by Hiramatsu). But anyway, now I fixed this mistake and I took some time to add a description. Along with Godspeed, Toshinori Hiramatsu is another of those elusive arrangers that did not stuck with Touhou for too many time. I haven't done too much research about him (now I've done thanks to his extensive VGMdb entry), but I'm sure he has only done about 6 arranges (one being , that glorious Chinese Tea arrange). The similarities with Godspeed doesn't end there (Godspeed was also a guest on Knights of Round). Hiramatsu also delivers quality over quantity. Even if his classic heavy metal style does not suit you (there is so much Judas Priest mojo in his style), It is impossible to deny the quality and effort there is in his arranges. I have been delaying this arrange since the early days of this channel, mainly because the keyboards on this song is what draws all the attention. It kinda reminds me of the Final Fantasy PS1 era, where Nobue Uematsu used a style similar to this (that "Those Who Fight Further" vibe). I'm not too fond of the heavy use of keyboard "leads" in the song ("lead" is the name of the sound you listen to), not even in my favourite bands that incorporate such sound. It is a bit odd, since being fan of both heavy metal and video game music, one could think this would be a match made in heaven. However, I often find it cheap, and a bit too artificial sounding. It is one of the things that made me strand away from all the 80's metal (unless it was thrash). However, this arrange is worth noting because of the lead guitar parts. The melody blends well, and the guitar tone that Hirantatsu uses is something to die for. It is really unfortunate not to have a full length Touhou album made by Sword of Justice (Hiramatsu circle). By now, there should be enough material to make a playlist that feels like an album. However, I would like to see what Hiramatsu could achieve with a better selection of songs (I'm not too fond of his picks so far). In the other hand, it's nice to see Hiramatsu is still tagging along, wether it's on Touhou music or in anime/video game music. His site is pretty empty though, as it contains no information whatsoever of his work other than his recent album. If you are to buy some music from him, it's a better option to find your choice via VGMdb and ask him directly (via Twitter or mail) where you can buy it. Hopefully, he doesn’t go all "Demetori" on you (answering "Only Japan, thank you!"). I almost forgot. Remember moomaria (the user who was part of the "trio" I made up)? Well, his channel got wiped out. However, after a bit of a hiatus, he has decided to rebuild his channel and continuo to upload Touhou Techno/Electronic arranges. I guess this is a good time to clarify about the situation of the "Poltergeist Mansion". KakashiMR (the user who uploaded classical Touhou arranges) hasn't been active in some time. In the times we have spoken, I haven't seen any desire to start doing this again. In the other hand, moomaria is back. However, If I'm going to continue doing this, I plan to do it alone. Don't take me wrong, both guys are great and are one of my best friends. It's just that I don't have the time or patience to sync with other people right now. This shouldn't stop you to check out moomaria channel and follow its own footsteps on Touhou music.: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Q3peLCNJyLhJLnFB6UVAg @ChaosAngel209
