Exploring Custer State Park was an amazing time. This was my first time ever going through Custer State Park, and my first impression was that it is HUGE! We barely scratched the surface while we were here, and we just have to go back. We first drove through on the Willdlife Loop, we were able to see some burros from a far away distance! We were hoping to see some more wildlife but half of the route was closed while we were there. So we moved onto our next must see was the Needles highway, we squeezed through some pretty tight tunnels and made a pit stop at the Cathedral Spires Trail. If you didn't stop in the tiny parking lot which seemed more like an overlook, you might just miss this trail. It is an incredible trail, I would say moderate to strenuous depending on your fitness level, but the views! You get to be in the middle of all the spires which is just fantastic! We ended our day at Sylvan Lake. Wow! It is absolutely gorgeous! The water is so tranquil, perfect if you wanna kayak, paddle board, fish or even swim, It is surrounded by these huge rock formations which are absolutely incredible. If you ever find yourself in the Keystone or Custer area in South Dakota, you should definitely spend a couple days here.
