What is the Devil's Kettle Mystery? Judge C.R. Magney State Park along Minnesota's North Shore Devil's Kettle is one of the main things to see in Judge C.R. Magney State Park. Although you will get to see the lower falls along the way to the upper falls, which is beautiful seeing it from the brule river. Judge C.R. Magney is one of the state parks in the north shore, along highway 61. The hike is about 2 miles round trip and is fairly easy (minus the 200 step staircase). Devil's Kettle is a little geological phenomenon that has stumped geologists and hydrologists for many, many years. They have thrown logs, ping pong balls, red die, and even rubber duckies in the cauldron, and they have never been found.
