In 74 hours 35 minutes the train covers a distance of 4,189 kilometres (2,603 mi) and traverses through eight states in India. This train is currently the longest train route in India by both distance and time, as well as the 24th-longest train service in the world. The train has 57 halts across its route. Vivek Express (now Vivek Super Fast Express) are four pairs of Express Trains on the Indian Railways network. These trains were announced in the Railway Budget of 2011-12 by the then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee. These trains were started to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Vivek express also holds another place in the history of Indian railways, as being the last train to halt its services, when the entire Indian railway passenger services came to standstill following the COVID19 pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown in March 2020. Dibrugarh - Kanyakumari Vivek Express joins Dibrugarh in Assam, North-East India to Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu which is the southernmost tip of India. The train No:15906 starts from Dibrugarh at 19:25 PM and reaches Kanyakumari at 22:00 PM on the fifth day of journey. In the return direction the train no: 15905 leaves Kanyakumari at 17:20 PM and reaches Dibrugarh at 20:50 PM on the fifth day of the journey. This train runs through Assam, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. This train also passes through Sahibganj district and Pakur district of Jharkhand but it does not have any stoppages there. It now runs with modern LHB rakes. The train runs consists of 22 carriages : 1 2 Tier AC , 4 3 Tier AC , 11 Sleeper , 3 General , 1 Generator Car , 1 SLR. Dibrugarh railway station is a railway junction station on the Lumding–Dibrugarh section. Rated as A Category railway station in Northeast Frontier Railway. It is located in Dibrugarh :The Tea City of India and 3rd largest city in the Indian state of Assam. The Dibrugarh railway station (DBRG) is the second railway station of the historic city of Dibrugarh after Dibrugarh Town railway station (DBRT). It is the Largest railway station in Northeast India in terms of area covering approx 400 Bighas of Land. Nearest to the India's Longest Rail-Cum-Road Bogibeel Bridge which connnects Southern Bank to Northern Bank of Assam. The Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Vivek Express was named in memories of Sri Swami Vivekananda Which was introduced by Former Railway Minister Smt Mamata Banerjee in the year 19 November 2011. The only train service which covers the longest route in India. The train runs for 4,278 km (2,658 mi) across the states of Assam, Nagaland, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in 75 hours. The Iconic Engineering Marvel 4.94 km (3 mi) long, combined Rail-Cum-Road Bogibeel Bridge across the Brahmaputra connects the Souther Bank of Assam Dibrugarh with the Northern Bank of Assam Dhemaji. The foundation of the infrastructure was laid by Former Prime Minister, Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2002, which is finally dadicated to the Nation on 25 December 2018 by Honourable Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi. Kanniyakumari railway station, formerly Cape Comorin railway station, (station code: CAPE) is a railway terminus of the Indian Railways serving the coastal town of Kanniyakumari in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is a part of the Thiruvananthapuram railway division of Southern Railway zone. It's the southernmost railway station in India. The Kanyakumari rail station is located in the heart of Kanyakumari and is only 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) away from Kanyakumari beach. Several express trains connect Kanyakumari with the rest of India. Two of the longest trains operated by the Indian Railways — Dibrugarh–Kanyakumari Vivek Express 4,283 kilometres (2,661 mi) and Himsagar Express 3,789 kilometres (2,354 mi) depart from here. It has daily trains to Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai as well as direct trains for Rameswaram, New Delhi, Howrah, Jammu, Dibrugarh, Thiruvananthapuram and other cities.
