It is currently being operated with 12655/12656 train numbers on a daily basis. From November 2, 2019, it runs with highly refurbished LHB coach. It operates as train number 12655 from Ahmedabad Junction to Chennai Central and as train number 12656 in the reverse direction, serving the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. It was introduced in 1978 to run between Madras Beach and Ahmedabad Junction on a weekly basis. Originally numbered as 145/146, it departed Madras Beach at 06:00 on Tuesdays and arrived Ahmedabad Junction the next day at 17:30. On its return lap, it departed Ahmedabad Junction on Thursdays at 06:50, and reached Madras Beach the next evening at 19:50. The train ran via Renigunta–Wadi Junction–Daund–Manmad Junction–Jalgaon with a 24 coach haul, and a single WDM-2 diesel loco. A single coach AC 2 Sleeper accommodation was introduced in 1984. The train has highly refurbished LHB coach with max speed of 130 km/h. The train consists of 22 coaches. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, and formerly known as Madras Central (station code: MAS), is the main railway terminus in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the busiest railway station in South India and one of the most important hubs in the country. It is connected to Moore Market Complex railway station, Chennai Central metro station, Chennai Park railway station, and Chennai Park Town railway station. It is about 1.8 km (1.1 mi) from the Chennai Egmore railway station. The terminus connects the city to northern India, including Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi, and different parts of India. Chennai Central railway station is a major transit point for shipment of inland and sea fish in South India through trains. The terminus handles fish procured from Kasimedu which is sent to Kerala and sea fish from the West Coast which is brought to Chennai and ferried to West Bengal. As of 2012, on an average, the terminus handles transportation of 200 boxes of fish, each comprising 50 kilograms (110 lb) to 70 kilograms (150 lb) of consumable fish. The station also handles 5,000 postal bags daily. Chennai Central railway station is one of the most prominent landmarks in the city that is often featured in movies and other pop culture in the region. The station has been used in numerous Indian novels and film and television productions over the years. Ahmedabad Junction railway station (station code: ADI) is the main railway station of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It is also the biggest railway station within Gujarat and also one of the major railway station in India. It is the highest income-generating division in Western Railways. It connects to Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Howrah and other major cities of India. Also it is central railway station of Gujarat which connects to Saurashtra, Kutch, Vadodara, Surat, Himmatnagar, Bhavnagar, Palanpur, etc. It is the center point railway station of Gujarat many lines begin from here. It includes Ahmedabad–Mumbai main line, Ahmedabad–Delhi main line (via Jaipur), Ahmedabad–Surendranagar line (via Viramgam), Ahmedabad–Gandhidham main line, Jaipur–Ahmedabad line, Ahmedabad–Udaipur line, Ahmedabad–Botad Section.
