Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to flag off Goa's first Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express virtually. Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat flag-off ceremony has been cancelled following Odisha train accident. The flag-off event was supposed to take place today (June 3). The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express was to be virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday morning. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant were among those expected to be present for the function at Madgaon railway station. However, Vaishnaw was now heading for the accident site in Odisha and the ceremony was cancelled. The regular run of the train was scheduled from June 5 but there is no clarity yet on whether this stands cancelled too. The train will run between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon station. The indigenously made train, equipped with world-class amenities and advanced safety features including KAVACH technology, will also boost tourism in both states. The train will leave from CSMT at 5:25 am and arrive in Madgaon at 1:10 pm. From Madgaon, the train will depart at 2:40 pm and arrive at Madgaon at 10:25 pm. The train will halt at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Khed, Ratnagiri, Kankavlli, Thivim , Madgaon Odisha train accident: As many as 288 people were killed and over 1,100 injured in an accident on Friday, June 2, after an accident involving three trains. The horrific accident happened when the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, headed towards Chennai, derailed. It collided with a goods train on the adjacent track, causing the rear carriage of the Coromandel Express to veer off onto the third track. The Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, coming from the opposite direction on the third track, rammed into the derailed coaches. 2 special trains to run from Howrah to Balasore to test railway line South Eastern Railways will run two MEMU special trains on June 4 from Howrah to Balasore and back to Howrah. One train will leave Howrah at 10.30 am and another train will leave Howrah at 13.00 pm, SER said in a statement. These trains will stop at all stations between Howrah and Balasore. At present restoration work is ongoing and all bodies have been recovered from the accident spot, added Vaishnaw. Restoration work in progress at derailment site near Balasore More than 1,000 labourers are working at the site. Seven numbers of Poclein Machines are being used to expedite the restoration work. Two Accident Relief Trains are also present at the site. One 140 ton Railway Crane and Three Road Cranes are working at the site for early restoration. One more Road Crane is also moving to the site. MR, CRB, RB Officials, General Manager, along with Principal Officers and other Divisional Officials is present at the derailment site and continuously monitoring the restoration work. ​SER has run special trains between Balasore-Howrah and Bhadrak -Chennai for carrying the stranded passengers. Moreover, one Special train was run from Howrah to Balasore to carry the relatives of the affected passengers. All 21 coaches, which capsized due to derailment, grounded All 21 coaches which capsized due to derailment of trains at Bahanaga Bazar Station have been grounded. Now the site is being cleared. Further 3 wagons and locomotive upper part will be grounded.
