Chiqui Rodriguez's video: AQUI Y AJAZZ JEREMY WALL Riverrun

@AQUI Y AJAZZ, JEREMY WALL "Riverrun"
Here is something that I couldn't wait to share it with you all, since I fished it last night. Not only for the images captured for this video, but for the music of Jeremy Wall. He is a great musician, that I have admired since early in his career, as a keyboard player and producer with Spyro Gyra. This is from his first solo CD project titled, Cool Running”. It was released in 1991 by Amherst Record. It was a total success. One of my favorite smooth jazz productions of all times… One my favorite song from that album is "Riverrun", so after 23 years of of enjoyment with this tune I decided to pay tribute to this remarkable melody with one of my videos shot it last week at the National Harbor and Burke Lake park. Hope you enjoy it as much as did making it. Here is some info and credits about this fabulous CD and a review by Alex Henderson. Jeremy Wall is best known for his years with Spyro Gyra, which grew increasingly formulaic and predictable as the 1980s progressed but was still exciting back when the pianist/keyboardist contributed such memorable tunes as "Shakedown" and "Mallet Ballet." Some might have feared that Cool Runnings would be full of boring elevator jazz, but the CD is actually fairly decent. Though not mind-blowing, light and atmospheric pop-jazz offerings like "Ancient Words," "Key West Strut" and the Latin-flavored "Into the Sunset" aren't nearly as contrived as most of the studio recordings Spyro was coming out with at the time. Wall's writing clearly reflects his years with that band, although Joe Sample's influence is also prominent. The player could have done without the pointless background vocalists he sometimes employs (none of whom add anything to the material), and he does tend to overproduce and overarrange. Nonetheless, Cool Runnings indicates that from a creative standpoint (as opposed to a commercial or monetary one), Wall's departure from Spyro was probably a good thing.
