Christopher L. Scott's video: A 5 Minute Introduction to 2 Timothy

@A 5 Minute Introduction to 2 Timothy
2 Timothy is one of my favorite books. It is practical but also personal. Here's a few thoughts about 2 Timothy. Here's my chart of 2 Timothy for your further study, http://christopherscottblog.com/introduction-2-timothy/ *AUTHOR The apostle Paul wrote 2 Timothy (2 Timothy 1:1, 11). He was in prison when he wrote this letter (2 Timothy 1:8, 12, 16-17; 2:9). Most scholars believe this was Paul's last letter that he wrote. *AUDIENCE Timothy is described by Paul as a "dear son" to Paul (2 Timothy 2:1) who had a genuine faith (2 Timothy 1:5). Timothy is addressed directly in the letter in 1:2, 3, 2:1; 3:1, 10; 4:9. *DATE Paul says that he was "near death" when he wrote this letter (2 Timothy 4:6-8). So many people believe the letter was written A.D. 63-67. *OUTLINE (from Wiersbe) -The Pastoral Appeal (2 Timothy 1) -The Practical Appeal (2 Timothy 2) -The Prophetic Appeal (2 Timothy 3) -The Personal Appeal (2 Timothy 4) *KEY VERSE "You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others." (2 Timothy 2:2, NLT) *KEY THEME Preparation for the ministry in the last days (from Wiersbe's commentary).
