"Monument to the Victims of the Circassian-Russian War" has been unveiled in Cherkessk, Karachai-Cherkess Republic, on 21 May 2017, during solemn ceremonies marking "Circassian Day of Mourning". The 6.2 m high bronze monument was designed by the Circassian sculptor Sulht'an Kweble. It depicts a sheathed Circassian dagger, a symbol of peace. Both the Adiga and Abaza in present-day Karachai-Cherkess Republic suffered tremendously during and after the Circassian-Russian War in the 19th century. Footage by TV Channel "Arkhiz 24". "Emigrant's Lament", traditional Circassian piece arranged and played by Aliy Lijide (Лыджыдэ).
