We are the artistic leaders and producers of 18 performing arts groups in Silicon Valley in Northern California. Each year we create art & entertainment for 215,200 audience members and together we employ 167 staff members and 1774 artists. The arts and culture sectors in California typically contribute $185.5 billion to our economy. These numbers are just one measure of how much we care about, and how much we need, our community. Live performance is a magical thing. It holds a mirror up to the collective human experience and allows a room full of strangers to believe, together. While many businesses have had the ability to return to some type of normal, live theaters are still closed. The Covid-19 crisis has brought us a surprise 8-month-long intermission. We’re still finding ways to be creative with new online content and fresh ideas, but we’ll be the first ones to say, “It’s not the same.” Today, Giving Tuesday, we ask for your help. Art is essential and needs to be on the other side of this. We cannot, and will not, survive without support from generous benefactors. Every dollar is one step closer to a guarantee of a vibrant, healthy, artistic community once we can all safely gather again. Any donations received today will be split equally amongst these eighteen companies. We can only continue to push through to Act 2 if the whole cast is here. We’ll also use 100% of today’s gifts to pay our individual artists, many of whom cannot work due to the pandemic. We care about each other and we care about you. We’re only as strong as our community. The show must go on.
