@1955 Chevrolet 3100 5 Window 1st Series Pickup
1955 Chevrolet 3100 5 Window Pickup The first major redesign for Chevrolet pickup trucks arrived after WWII with restrictions getting lifted by manufacturers in 1947. They are known as the "Advance Design" series and was marketed as a stronger, larger yet sleeker Pickup than previous models. During their production from 1947 to 1955, Chevrolet trucks were number one in sales in the US. They received 1 major redesign in 1954 with the introduction of a 1 piece curved windshield, horizontal cargo bed rails, new steering wheel, new dashboard, and a crossbar grill known as the "bullet nose." 1955 was also a very unique year for Chevrolet as they had a major update with a new series introduced in March. This would be known as a totally new series of trucks, dubbed the "Task Force Series." Early 1955's were be named the 3100 1st series with those produced after March the 2nd series. So being that their production run was pretty limited and ended early in the year makes this '55 1st series pretty unique. The 5 window body is the popular choice and this one has had a nice cab off restoration completed in 2019. It was under construction for approximately 4 years. With the cab off the body the chassis and body were both soda blasted and both are rust free. It is painted in stock 1950's truck colors combining a nice deep Red with White on the upper cab. The truck wears its original bumpers, grill and emblems which all have a nice finish. The glass is all in good shape throughout as well. It has all new lights throughout and a 3rd brake light was added. The bed has been redone with Red Oak with stainless slats and matching Oak side rails. The truck sits on its original correct style wheels which are painted to match and wrapped with new Coker wide white wall bias ply tires. It also has the single rear fender side mount. These were originally powered by a 235 ci 6 cylinder but this 1 has been swapped out with a fully rebuilt 1967 250 ci. It has an Accel distributor and was fully rewired with an EZ wire harness. It also has a new alternator, new fuel pump, new water pump, new starter and new solenoid. The transmission is a 3 speed manual and smoothly moves through the gears. It has an all new brake system that was restored to original with all new components. It drives down the road well. Other nice improvements include the electric wipers which work much better than the originals. The interior was all redone in Gray and in good shape. The bench seat, headliner, carpet and door panels were all reupholstered. The steel dash is painted to match the body and topped off with its original trim and gauges. The gauges all work properly and a tachometer has been added. The original style column with column shift and steering wheel are all nicely painted. This is a nice vintage pickup and a lot of its original parts were restored and used throughout the process. It has 127 miles on it since it was finished out so is ready to get on the road and be enjoyed.
