Claude's video: Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon 100 Speedrun in 1:55:54

An update to my 1-56-49, located here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODxi0RJybNA The definition of 100% includes getting everything required for Any%, in addition to the following: - All Characters (Sasuke) -All Key Items, which include the Triton Shell (defeat the first Impact boss), the Achilles' Heel (complete the fishing sequence) and the Gold Key (talk to a few NPCs, but you need this item anyways to access Super Jump training) - All Weapons (Goemon's Chain Pipe, Ebisumaru's Meat-Saw Hammer, Sasuke's Ice Kunai, Yae's Bazooka) - All Abilities (Goemon's "Sudden Impact", Sasuke's "Super Jump") - The highest level weapon upgrade (Level 3, obtained by talking to the Wiseman at the end of the game) - All 45 Fortune Dolls (cat dolls) --- With that out of the way, this is my final run of MNSG 100% for the rest of the year. I decided to keep doing casual attempts after getting 1-56, and managed to get this run basically out of nowhere (and while doing very little practice as well). I consider getting 1-55 a pretty big fluke, since I imagined a time like this would require a pretty hefty grind (which I wasn't very motivated to do). So, I'm definitely going to quit while I'm ahead. The reason this run is so good is because I hit 15 out of the 17 Mokkori Slashes I attempted (all first try), only missing the one before the first Impact battle, and the one from the coffee shop leading to Ghost Toys. Even Benkei was first try! I also had a very clean Oedo & Musical Castle, the best fishing I'd ever done in my life, as well as a perfect Sasuke Super Jump minigame. And on top of all that, I somehow got Musical Castle text skip. So yea, I'm extremely satisfied with the amount of frames in this run, and I feel the overall quality of the run is good enough that I can have this be my last run for the foreseeable future. That said, there were still plenty of errors. The slides in the first half of the run were pretty weak, with most of them being 2nd try or worse. The text skips outside of Musical were also pretty lacking (especially Dragon, where I paused twice and still didn't get it), and for some reason I went for Omitsu text skip despite not even having a real setup for it. As far as the dungeons go, I failed the first chopsticks segment in Gourmet Sub and had to do the slow backup, and in Festival Temple Castle I had to make the 2nd elevator cycle and lost ~8 seconds. However, by far the worst segment of this run was Ghost Toys, where I failed to make the correct top cycle in the room with the Fortune Doll, messing up my health routing and creating a domino effect of time loss throughout the rest of the dungeon. I wasted time trying to farm health for the boss (even forgoing the slide at the end of the dungeon for more drop opportunities), got none, and then had a slow boss fight anyways. A bit disappointing, since Ghost Toys isn't a particularly difficult segment - but sometimes a small mistake in movement can have a pretty catastrophic effect. Fortunately, none of that matters as long as you hit a lot of Mokkori Slashes, so thank goodness for that :3 A run that hits a similar amount of frames while omitting all of the mistakes I mentioned would definitely be 1-54, but that seems way too unreasonable at the moment. Besides, I don't like overgrinding, and I was getting pretty burnt out on the category anyways. With a game like this (and especially this category), there will probably always be new tech lurking, so I think it's better to take a step back and see if any big time savers will pop up. Therefore, MNSG 100% 2019 has officially concluded for me, and I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. Cheers for good work.
