No Damage No Magic No Items No Drive No Summons No Limits No Stats Boosts (except AP) No Armors No Accessories No Guard No Growth Abilities Attack-Parry Marluxia's attacks I saw someone do a fight under these restrictions before a long time ago so I wanted to give it a whirl myself since my Larxene fight from yesterday got me in the mood to try another restricted fight. This one was actually pretty fun and I did it on PS2 because I missed hearing Marluxia's JP voice actor. I also forgot what the game originally sounded like and it makes me sad but oh well. I also also wanted to test recording a playback through VLC since it's deinterlace method was so smooth for most of the fight. I'd say this was easier for me than Larxene was since the biggest things to worry about from Marluxia are mostly his DM's, unless you whiff a hit trying to loop him in the center of the arena like I did. Don't ask me how I didn't land on one of the 3 pools in the beginning, I thought I was dead for sure. Since you have no Guard to block his attacks, you have to be clever with attacks that have parry frames or let you parry, such as the standard overhead chop, Slide Dash, Flash Step, and Guard Break. You also need a well-timed Explosion to grant i-frames in the beginning or his rose cage will ruin your attempt before it starts. A good Flash Step + Guard Break + Explosion combo as he teleports into the center does the job. Dealing with his forced retaliation is a pretty simple matter of attack + Guard Break, which I found surprisingly lenient most of the time. Since I whiffed an opening hit in phase 2, I had to retreat to the edge of the arena and hope I had an attack parry his scythe wheel to grant me an opening. I had a tricky time parrying his scythe wheel DM and kinda just hoped I attacked at the right time for it then as well. The same kinda goes for his other one with the geysers where he throws his scythe. Once I got that though, it was pretty easy to deal with and was my preferred DM to see. Definitely more fun an experience than Larxene, and I would be willing to do this again. :)
