This is exactly why public pianos are so special, and why we need more out there. Some of you may have seen me on , a TV show with @langlang and @MikaSoundsOfficial in the UK with amateur pianists and our connections with the piano. It should not need a TV show for anyone to realise that there is something special about music. Nothing needs to be staged, or faked on social media, TV, or anything. Everyday there are these encounters - like here with Jay and I. Jay is a true gentleman and real street musician. We both arrived to the Elton John donated public piano at the same time, and Jay wanted to play, so as I had time, I was happy to just wait. But I love random encounters and meeting musicians, so suggested maybe we play a bit together before I went away and came back later. We jammed a bit for a couple of minutes, and did not film it, as Jay wasn't sure about it; but when we finished, we had so much fun, that Jay said, let's do it again and film it! So, that's the "backstory" - some will say it's fake, some will say it's staged - but this is simply the human connection that music gives us. Jay and I are from different walks of lives, and I recognise how lucky I am; but clearly Jay has had a wonderful musical life as well, and that is all we need to see. He is brilliant, and you can see how he is happy to lead, and I am happy to follow, and what a voice!
