On 3 June 2015 we retrieved our 25-foot RV trailer from storage and towed it to the Dakota Ridge RV Park. After making repairs and preparing the trailer for travel we departed Lakewood, CO towing our 25’ RV trailer with our 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid on our oft talked about and heavily-planned trip to Alaska and back. We would travel a total of 8,186 miles; 6,586 miles by road and 1,600 miles by Ferry (the Alaska Marine Highway System Ferry, taken during our return back to the lower 48 from Whittier, Alaska to Bellingham, WA). We consumed a little more than 574 gallons of gasoline at a cost of $2,145, averaging 10.64 mpg towing the some 4,000 lb. trailer. The most expensive gasoline was $5.52/gal in the Yukon, the least expensive was $2.65/gal in Montana. Our chosen route to Alaska and back home included the following locations in order: 0.
