Sarah:
So what I've found is, first of all, sharing my own story with them is very beneficial because at one point I got myself into $20,000 worth of credit card debt that my husband didn't know about. Cause at that point is where he taught me the budgeting system that he had developed for himself that he had never shared anyone with before. That's what we teach people now, but I can tell you right now, like most people, they come to me and it doesn't matter how much money you make if you have a spending problem and it doesn't matter how much money you make if you don't have a system to budget, because everybody has a tendency to spend more than they make if they aren't tracking it. The way I do it and the way Ben and I have taught it for years now is we have what we call an allocation system. OK, so we're looking in the future and we're going, OK, what bills are coming up? But we also treat savings as a bill. So I'm going to allocate money towards that as though I'm paying already.
