Opening the London Underground S Stock Train Pack from Bachmann Model Railway Reviews Hello all, Welcome back to another model railway review video. Today we take a look at the Bachmann Branchline London Transport Museum exclusive London Underground S Stock. This train pack comes with four carriages, however, an extra four carriages are available for purchase. The model was made exclusively for the London Transport Museum, with Bachmann Europe taking on the job of producing this special batch of ready-to-run models. The models were announced in 2015 and were available from the LTM website; these have since gone out of stock, but now a new model of the deep-levelled 1938 tube stock is available. The S Stock are the newest and most modern trains on the London Underground network at the time of upload. The trains operate in two configurations: seven carriages for the Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines, and eight carriages for the Metropolitan line. There were 191 trains were built between 2008 and 2017 to replace the A, C and D stock, which by the time of full fleet replacement, were all about 25-30 years old. The trains were the first to have air-conditioning on the London Underground, bringing a welcome change from the previous 120 years of transit. The trains were originally driver-operated units, but in late 2018, they began implementing trialling automation, beginning from late 2019 with portions of the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines being transferred over to automated control. The trains operate on 730V DC, which is higher than the 680V DC in previous trains for the purpose of getting the extra power required for the new accessories, and are operated from a fourth rail.
