Roter Frontkämpferbund (RFB) was a legally registered association, but in practice a paramilitary organization founded by the German Communist Party in 1924. The members greeted each other by raising a clenched fist while shouting "Rot front!" (Red Front). It was founded to "defend the proletarian and the working class" and often engaged in street fights with other organizations, especially with the Nazi Party's SA.
