CompVid101's video: You re Gonna Miss Me By The Kingston Trio

@You're Gonna Miss Me By The Kingston Trio
The opening cut from the last album released by the original Kingston Trio of Dave Guard, Bob Shane, and Nick Reynolds. Guard was to leave the group shortly, to be replaced by singer/songwriter John Stewart for the last six years of the group's initial ten year run. "You're Gonna Miss Me" was adapted by Guard from a song that the New Lost City Ramblers (Mike Seeger, John Cohen, and Tom Paley) had in turn adapted from 1920s-era banjo master Charlie Poole's "Leaving Home" - itself Poole's rewrite of the American honky-tonk classic "Frankie And Johnnie," Indications are that "F&J" was based on a real incident from North Carolina during the 19th century. The KT version speeds up Poole's original considerably and turns the number into the high-energy banjo-based uptempo folk song which was the trademark of the group. From the 1961 album "Goin'Places."
