CompVid101's video: Duophonic Reuben James

@Duophonic "Reuben James"
The Chilly Winds perform their version of Woody Guthrie's classic song (his lyrics set to a tune collected by A.P. Carter, "Wildwood Flower") about the American destroyer sunk by a U-boat on Oct. 31st, 1941, five weeks before Pearl Harbor. The "duophonic" process was a laughable attempt by Capitol Records to compensate for their failure to record in stereo the early tracks of artists of the 1950s who later hit it big. The process involved doubling the mono tracks and separating them to create the illusion of stereo where it did not exist. The only audio available to the Chilly Winds has been a single mono track mixed down from the seven seen here - 3 vocal mics, 3 instrument mics + bass. The duophonic process involves looping two identical tracks under the video, panning them full left and full right, and changing the EQ radically on each. Compare the sound to the same track uploaded on the Roadwolf98 channel.
