Construction Week Middle East's video: MEP Engineered Online Ep 11 Sensgreen s CEO and CBO on Indoor Air Quality post-COVID19

@MEP Engineered Online Ep 11 | Sensgreen's CEO and CBO on Indoor Air Quality post-COVID19
In this latest episode of MEP Engineered Online, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Sensgreen, Hasan Basri Tosun, and the chief business officer of Sensgreen, Tolga Candan, talk to former MEP Middle East editor Tom Oxtoby about how innovation is driving the future of buildings; how air quality will be a crucial factor in determining where we live and work in the future, and more! In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the wildfires across the globe that dominated the news in 2020, the focus on air quality has risen higher than ever before. People have begun to consider what they’re inhaling, whether driven by fear of a virus, smog, heavy metal, or other pollutants. “Everyone knows that air quality is an essential element of our existence. So, unless you’re living in a submarine or a spaceship, air is consumed by the very same fountain by each of us, segregated by buildings and geography. Unfortunately, unlike a 100 years ago, the air is not so good anymore,” Candan says. “Just like going to a supermarket and checking the contents of the food that you’re eating, people have begun to focus on the contents of the air that they’re breathing. We’re heading towards a future where places without air monitoring will be avoided. “People are going to start choosing – there’s no doubt about it – about which schools their children are going to visit; which malls they are going to visit; which hotels they’re going to stay in; which hospitals to head to; or even which banks to use.” The time has come to make indoor air quality reports as ordinary as the weather reports. There is a growing awareness to go beyond facilities management, basic MEP and HVAC services such as air conditioning, heating, and ventilation, and move towards parameters that rate indoor air quality. Tosun adds: “There are a number of businesses – such as gyms and restaurants – that depend on people being in those places. COVID-19 has increased the pressure on such businesses to run their air systems better. We have reached a stage where improvements in air quality aren’t enough; there’s a need to have transparency and showcase this indoor air quality improvement to the public to gain trust.” To catch more detailed insights, watch the discussion today!
