@322) Levi's Strauss & Co
They are nothing less than an American legend for more than a century they have covered the backsides of _______ and movie stars, cowboys and bad boys or just playing old you and me. And when they get old and _________ you love them even more. They are Levi's the original blue jeans. In 1997 one of the earliest known pairs of these American blues sold for a _____________ 25,000 dollars- a pretty penny for a pair of old denim. It was all back a guy named Löb Strauss. Young Löu was a Jewish immigrant who came to New York from Bavaria in the 1840's to join his brother Joneses ___________ his business. At first moment Löb did, he changed his name to Lëvi it was easier to say and it didn't have those strange little _________ above the vowel, second Lëvi moseyed down out to California. Lynn Downey Levi Strauss & Co Archivist Jonas Strauss had decided that it was time to send the young brother out west to open basically the west coast ___________ of J. Strauss brother & Co. So Young Levi hopped on a boat which went down to the Isthmus of Panama, he took a ________ or a train across the Isthmus got on the other side hopped the Pacific Mail Steamer and arrived to the bustling noisily dirty smelling city of San Francisco. Bustling and smelling because it was chock-full of frontier-men, rubbing and ________ for gold. These ________ guys were really __________ on their clothes. So Levi sold work pants made of super strong fabric. Actually this dirty stuff normally used to make ownins or drop all dust furniture. It was called Denim. The pants were called "Waist Overall". One day Strauss got a letter from a Reno, Nevada tailor name Jacob Davis. It seems Davis had made one costumer very happy when he put together a pair of work pants with a metal rivet that keep the pants from _________________ at the seams of the pocket corners. Davis wanted to __________ them but he didn't have the 68 dollars required by the US patent office. So what does he do? He writes a letter to Levi Strauss sends him a few pairs of the pants via Wells Fargo Express and says," I have this money making idea. If you pay for the patent we can take it out together and make this brand new kind of work. What do you think?"
