Doing this reduces the handle weight and allows Shark to put in a larger dust cup (2-liter capacity) so you don't have to empty it as often. Aside from the Duo Clean head, the P50 has the lift away feature that gives this vacuum better reach under further - better than the Dyson V10 or V11. Debris pick up is outstanding on carpets and hard floors, as the Duo Clean head picks up small stuff like dust to large ones like Fruit loops without clogging which is an issue for other models like the Dyson V8, V10, and even the V11. It won't deep clean as well as the Dyson V10 and Tineco Pure One S12, which scored higher in my tests. But if you also consider the price difference, the ION P50 is a bargain. However, it struggles with cleaning log hair as it doesn't have the zero-M feature that the newer Shark stick vacuums have. It also has some versatility as you can use it as a handheld, but it lacks a mini turbo brush which could have been great on carpet. The good news is you can purchase one separately in the Shark website.
