Corporal Clegg's video: Aosoth - Songs Without Lungs Music Video

@Aosoth - Songs Without Lungs (Music Video)
Aosoth is a French Black Metal band created by MkM (Antaeus) in 2002. Aosoth is a dark female force in the pantheon of the Order of the Nine Angels. The Aosoth Logo was created by Erik Danielsson of Watain. --- HOLY FUCK! And the words actually describe the lyrical content quite accurately... This band is a newborn in the French black metal scene, one that's been thriving in the past few years. Unsurprisingly, it shares the same lyrical topics -- going around the territory of "religious" black metal, as the buzzword goes these days, but not directly submitting to it; sort of like Antaeus. And that's not a coincidence in the least, because the one thing that is going to compel you to hear this band is its vocalist -- none other than MkM of Antaeus. Being that his main band is almost on hold due to lack of funds and competent musicians, he obviously decided to delve into other projects, and might I say, his appearance in Aosoth is most welcome. Not only is he one of the best vocalists in the business today, but the music of Aosoth is very akin to that of Antaeus. Even if the first few seconds of "Songs Without Lungs" are enough to remind you of Antaeus, this is not just about that. No, when you're done self-pummelling with the sheer aggressiveness that is the title track, you'll begin to really get into the mood of the album and explore the nuances contained within slower tracks such as "Path Of Twisted Light", one of the simplest, yet so masterfully crafted combination of dissonant riffs that even Deathspell Omega wouldn't be ashamed of. The album continues in that intertwined fashion, changing between hypnotic slower riffs and incredible outbursts of hate. Even the production is reminiscent of Antaeus' latest, "Blood Libels", albeit less trebly and abrasive, while instruments, especially guitars, have more room to breathe, and the guitarist, Bestial Satanic T, sure proves that he's more than competent both technically and creatively. To top the album off is a cover (!) of Antaeus' "Inner War", which, despite having the exact same vocalist as the original, sounds completely refreshed and no less interesting than any other track on the album, which often plagues other attempts of the sort. All in all, this is one killer release which took me completely by surprise and definitely stands right behind Funeral Mist's "Maranatha" in the list of the best releases of 2009. YEAH!! Album: "Ashes of Angels"
