What are the Characteristics of Insects and Snails? CSP Insects are one of the most abundantly found Invertebrates of Animal Kingdom. Insects form the largest group among the phylum Arthropod. Normally insects have a chitinous exoskeleton, a three-part body; head, thorax and abdomen, three pairs of jointed legs, compound eyes and one pair of antennae. Shelled Gastropods or better known as the Snails are the members of phylum Mollusca. While the Gastropods lack a shell, snails, in general, have shells in which they can retract into.
