Define Electrolyte and Non Electrolyte Solutions | CSP In chemistry solutions can be categorized into to groups i.e. Electrolyte and Non Electrolyte solutions. Electrolyte solutions can be defined as the type of solution that dissociates into ions and becomes capable of transporting electric charge - i.e. an electrolyte is an electric conductor. They are also called ionic solutions. Electrolyte solutions are normally formed when a salt is placed into a solvent. Non Electroylte solution are the type of compound that do not ionize at all and they are primarily held together by covalent bond.
