Emerging Player Award are given to those player that have Played 5 or fewer Test matches, Played in 25 or fewer IPL matches (as of the start of the season) and Not previously won the Emerging Player Award. At the inaugural season (2008)of IPL, the award was named as Best U-19, then in 2009 it changed to Best U-23. Later in 2011, it was again changed to Rising Star of The Year, followed by Best Young Player of the Season in 2013 but finally in 2014, it was given a stable name Emerging Player of the edition.
