Whereas the motivations for the Imperial guard and Eldar alliance are relatively clear, the seeming cease fire between chaos and Orks is not well established. The tone is very inconsistent, mixing in weird aspects of dark humour here and there. I also can’t take Krull seriously. When he orders the execution of one of his space marines at 52:55, he sounds like a whiney teenager. “Mum! Your embarrassing me!” Also, one of the missions seems straight up broken. When playing as the Orks in mission 4 (Keep your enemies Closer), you don’t start with enough resources to even make a single gretchin squad. Even after you start capturing points your requisition comes in painfully slowly. This would not be such a problem if you were not in a race against the clock to beat the Space Marine Landraider. I don’t think there is even a legitimate way to beat this level on insane. There are three cheese strategies that seem to work. The first and longest is to use the Chaos Space Marine forces to destroy the Land Raider before switching to the orks. The 2nd Is kind of luck based. Occasionally when switching from the Chaos to the Orks, it will glitch and you will end up with the resources meant for chaos, making this mission much more doable. The final method is the one I have shown here. Save up what resources you can, buy some Wartrakks and make a mad dash to the finish. You don’t have to complete all the objectives in the mission (such as killing the Farseer). You only need to get Gorgutz to the finish line. Still, for all its flaws, it’s nice to see the evil guys getting some loving for a change. Gorgutz would later go on to lead many Waaaghs! Appearing in further expansions packs and sequels. This would be the only time we see Krull. The chaos lord would be replaced by Eliphas the Inheritor in further expansion packs. Thankfully this would also lead to a new model, with more menacing and confident voice lines. He is a much more dark and brooding chaos lord than the whiney bitch we get here.
