For the final three missions you will have allies in the form of mercenaries. Unfortunately, they are neither reliable nor useful. I don’t fully understand the mechanic behind them, but they will often turn on you, giving you even more enemies to face. I believe that they won’t attack provided you have troops garrisoned to stop their hostility. I find building a few turrets in or around their base usually prevents them from turning on you. They are not the most useful fighting force, but troops going after the enemy is fewer troops attacking you, so it’s better to keep them friendly. The Ordos have access to Raiders instead of Trikes. These cost a little bit more and are slightly stronger. Overall, I find having access to these beneficial. Usually you will be struggling to pump troops out rather than having a money problem, so fewer, slightly stronger units is preferable. It’s good to have a mix between rocket and infantry troops. It’s often a case of deciding whether to go for troopers and trikes, or quads and infantry. I find having raiders helps to make the decision easier. In addition to the raiders, the Ordos gain access to the saboteur. Whilst not the most useful unit giving the existence of Engineers, the ability to go invisible and take out turrets has it’s uses. Still I would have preferred freeman but we can’t have anything. Their main battle tank falls in the middle, Stronger and slower than the atriedes tank, weaker and faster than the Harkonnen. Finally, they have access to Deviator battle tanks, variations of the normal missile tank that can convert enemy vehicles to fight for you for a short time. These are best employed against the Harkonnen. Turn a devastator battle tank and self-destruct it to devastating damage not only to it, but surrounding enemy troops.
