Since the reign of King Parakramabahu VI, the two historic Sri Ganegoda Devalaya has been developed to its present state through the generous contribution of the devotees of the 7 villages belonging to the Devalaya. Both houses have a long history dating back to the 15th century or the 'Kingdoms of Kotte' era. Also, the Maha Gammadu Festival is held annually for several days in a grand manner while preserving the endangered local traditions.
