The 44th Annual Navam Maha Perahera of the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo 02 concluded last evening (2023.02.05, 06) in its usual festive and iconic glamour. This festival is renowned globally as the greatest cultural festivals in Colombo which is also one of the most visited tourism events in the country. Kelaniye Kandula - First Day Magulathu, Maligawe Migara - Second Day Magulathu, Maligawe Thai Raja, Hunupitiya Abhitha, Hunupitiya Ganga, Kataragama Tharidu, Medagoda Parami, Mirigama Seetha, Mirigama Nilame, Maharagama Sudu Mahattaya, Giriulle Kanchana, Sambodhi Dewmini, Kottave Kumari, Kirulapana Sama, Kottave Panchali, Giriulle Bibila, Biyagama Surani, Biyagama Raja, Maharagama Seetha, Gannoruwe Mihila, Maharagama Kadira, Kaduwela Veera, Danovita Manike, Meegoda Chuti Menike, Piliyandala Panduka, Godagama Rani, Horana Seedevi. The overall procession consisted of 25 elephants and a variety of authentic Sri Lankan Upcountry, Lowcountry, Sabaragamu, Folk and Modern dance performances The strength behind the success of this glamorous event needs to be credited to the vision of the chief incumbent of the Gangarama Viharaya, Ven.
