Learning subtraction properties helps us understand subtraction better.  The emphasis is on understanding the concept of subtraction here rather than only accuracy of mathematical number sentence or memorization of facts! The subtraction properties: 1) There is an Inverse relationship between addition and subtraction. 2) Counting back is Subtraction. 3) Answer/difference is always less than the number subtracted from. Also, first number in the subtraction sentence is always the largest. 4) Subtraction does not follow the order property. 5) Zero property. 6) Subtracting one from a number gives the previous number.  7) Subtracting previous number from the number gives one. Various exercises on the subtraction properties, like finding the missing operand, forming the number sentence and including some addition problems to test the skills learned.
