Magnificent Science Exhibition Inaugurated at Sainik School Bijapur: Golden Jubilee Inter School Science Exhibition was inaugurated at Sainik School Bijapur premises on Friday, 12 July, 2013. The national level science exhibition was inaugurated by renowned Nuclear Physicist Prof. M.I. Savadatti, former Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by invocation song. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Savadatti said that the science exhibition has become national phenomenon during this decade. These science exhibitions will create scientific temper among the students and help the country to develop scientifically and technologically. He appealed the students to think differently having out of the box approach and understand fundamental scientific concepts by delving deep into different facets of natural phenomenon. He felt that the spirit of scientific enquiry needs to be enhanced in our curriculum today. There is need to create stimulation rather than excitement. Students should not become information carriers and knowledge gatherers but application of knowledge is necessary in order to have scientific progress. Principal Col R Balaji pointed out that the school has not only produced military leaders but many illustrious products who have scaled greater heights in the field of science and technology and won many laurels and awards including President's awards for their scientific innovativeness. Commenting that there was overwhelming response for this exhibition, he said that the science exhibition provided an opportunity to students to exhibit their scientific knowledge and showcase their talents. It also enhanced potentials of the students to reach greater heights in the field of science and technology. This national level science exhibition is being conducted by Sainik School Bijapur in collaboration with the Department of Public Instruction, Govt of Karnataka as part of the yearlong Golden Jubilee celebration of the school. Dr.Rama Rao, Co-ordinator for Science Exhibition introduced the Chief Guest. Well-qualified panel of Judges comprising Dr.Kushal Das of B.M.Patil Medical College, Bijapur, Prof Suresh Jangamshetti, HOD, Basaweshwar Engineering College, Bagalkot and Prof B.G. Math, Retired Professor of KCP Science College, Bijapur will assess the best entries in different categories and declare the winners on the final day. The attractive cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. The competitions are also being held during the science exhibition. The competitions are being conducted in two categories. The first category comprises Class XI & XII students and the second category of students belonging to Class IX and X. The exhibits are being displayed in six subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Comp Science and Environmental Science in the first category whereas the Junior students are displaying their projects in General Science and Environmental Science in second category. The science exhibition will be kept open for visitors particularly for teachers and students from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, 13 July 2013 and from 8 am -- 12.30 pm on Sunday, 14 July 2013. The valedictory function will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, 14 July 2013. Mr.S.R.Patil, IT & BT Minister, Govt of Karnataka will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner Mr.Shivayogi Kalsad, Headmaster Col Rishi Raj Singh, Registrar Wg Cdr E Srinivas, Mrs V.S.
